Quando mais foi necessário, os fundos alternativos (alguns) vieram em socorro das carteiras dos gestores. Num ano de correlação positiva entre obrigações e ações, encontrámos vários fundos alternativos de gestoras internacionais que fecharam 2022 com retornos, em euros, de dois dígitos. Em particular, os fundos market neutral e os multiestratégia brilharam num ano difícil para os ativos tradicionais.
Dos 20 fundos alternativos estrangeiros com melhor desempenho do ano passado, cinco pertencem à categoria Morningstar market neutral (tanto em dólares como em euros) e sete à de multiestratégia. Ao todo, mais de metade.
Dentro da categoria de market neutral destaca-se o Lumyna - MW TOPS (Market Neutral) UCITS Fund. o fundo conseguiu um retorno de 17,81% em 2022. Ainda da mesma entidade, o mesmo fundo, mas com um bias ESG, o Lumyna-MW ESG (Market Neutral) TOPS UCITS Fund, também aparece bem classificado no nosso Top de rentabilidades.
O fundo alternativo estrangeiro mais rentável em 2022
Curiosamente, o pódio é encabeçado por um fundo que opera em parte no mercado obrigacionista. O GAM Star Global Rates conseguiu um retorno de 22,8% em 2022, focando-se no segmento de dívida soberana e no mercado cambial. A abordagem top down do gestor combina análise fundamental com análise técnica para determinar o fair value e para dimensionar e calendarizar as trades efetuadas. O risco é ativamente gerido ao longo de todo o processo através de análises de correlação, diversificação e liquidez.
